Fashion World Tokyo | TradeGala Fashion Industry Blog

UPDATE - Since this article was written Fashion World Tokyo has been forced to reschedule due to the escalating health concerns caused by the Coronavirus. The new dates will be 27-29 October 2020

This April 1st-3rd, Fashion World Tokyo welcomes visitors from all four corners of the globe for their twice-yearly wholesale fashion trade exhibition. This April the Autumn/Winter collections for 2020 will be showcased at the Big Sight exhibition centre on the Tokyo bay waterfront. The three-day exhibition consists of six main shows - a Fashion Wear expo, Bag expo, Shoe expo, Fashion Jewellery expo, Textile Tokyo and Fabric sourcing expo covering all the wholesale apparel ranges you could possibly need. Despite concerns surrounding the spread of Coronavirus, the show is planned to take place as planned, with extra measures in place to protect the health of visitors and exhibitors

The Japanese fashion market is the third largest in the world, second only to the US and China. Japanese consumers are famously interested in international fashion brands due to their "exotic" appeal, while designer and branded goods are seen as a status symbol and something to aspire to, making this a great opportunity for fashion brands to make new connections in this thriving market.

Fashion World this year has a massive 980 exhibitors from 35 different countries and regions. While this could be considered too much of a good thing, it's easy to plan ahead by visiting the home page where you can
download a brochure of the event ahead of time to plan your visit and scope out the suppliers on offer. Plus, the organisers offer a Business Matchmaking Service - harnessing the latest technologies to make connecting with suppliers who match your business needs a piece of cake.

Fashion World Tokyo is a huge marketing opportunity for both upcoming and established apparel brands, as the wholesale trade exhibition is visited by tens of thousands of visitors, buyers, management and designers from around the world, with a particular interest in imported over homegrown brands. Sponsored by the Japan Department Stores Association, Japanese Speciality Store Association and New Supermarket association of Japan, it's clear that this trade show is widely respected in its industry.

If you've left it too late for the April show, worry not! Fashion World Tokyo will return again for wholesalers to view Spring/Summer 2021 trends on 27th-29th October 2020, so perhaps now is a great time to start booking your tickets. Not only is this best gateway to the Japanese market, Fashion World Tokyo is also growing to serve as a new Asian hub for the fashion industry. With Brexit threatening our European trade relations, perhaps this is the time to look further afield and take this opportunity to expand your business into the East?

Not travelling this year? TradeGala is a great low cost alternative to trade fairs allowing you to browse a multitude of wholesale brands without leaving the comfort of your home or office
